論理を組み立てる接続詞

バラ戦争に勝利し、ランカスター朝の国王ヘンリー6世と王太子エドワードをその手で殺したリチャード（グロスター公）は、王位への黒い野望を胸に秘める。その野望実現のため、エドワードの妻であったアンとの結婚をねらい、先王ヘンリー6世の柩の前でアンを口説く。その最初の会話。
初めはリチャードを罵倒するアンだが、心弱きアンはリチャードの甘い言葉に惑わされ、夫と夫の父親を殺した男の手に身をゆだねる。

冠詞や時制、前置詞を間違えたところで科学論文では致命的ミスにはなりませんが、論理を組み立てる用語を間違えたり落としたりすると、もはや論文ではありません。明快な論理展開こそ論文の命ですから、接続語は論文英語でもっとも重要な用法といえます。また、英語の文をつなぐ方法をたくさんしっていると、文章が単調になるのも防ぐ事ができます。

接続詞、接続副詞だけでなく、科学論文むきの動詞を使った文も集めました。

帰結
therefore	ゆえに（論文では標準的な単語だが、普通の文章ではものすごく堅く大袈裟らしい）。セミコロンとは相性がいい。 A is B; therefore, B is C.

since	「なぜなら」。ただし文章によっては「～以来」とも読めて混乱する。「～以来」と読んでも意味が成立してしまう場合は、becauseを使うこと。本によっては、重要ではない理由、分かり切った理由につかう、分かり切っているから前にもってくる、と説明しているのも。
